B.J. Starink is a Dutch author whose creative work began during a period of solitary confinement. What started as a way to put thoughts on paper became a lasting practice—and an expanding catalogue of unsettling fiction, poetry, and stories for children.
Alongside writing, Starink works as a road builder. His adult books move through psychological horror, slasher fiction, supernatural stories, dark fantasy, and crime romance. The books do not shy away from difficult themes; titles explicitly rated 18+ are identified throughout this website.
There is also a distinctly different side to his writing. As the creator of the Boogeyman Beater Club, Starink makes imaginative stories for young readers, including free books and personalised adventures designed to help children approach night-time fears with curiosity and confidence.
His debut, Unknown Tendencies, introduced the psychological-horror strand. Later works such as Homicidal Tendencies, In Love, Stormie!, and Asmodil explore very different corners of the uncanny.
